Our vision: enabling a world of life-changing experiences.
The most important moments in our lives often happen in person. We meet a partner, a co-founder, an investor or a best friend at a gathering we only heard about because we knew the right person.
Our mission: make event curators successful. It drives everything we build. The more curators thrive, the more of these experiences exist, and the closer we get to our vision.
Buenro is a marketplace for destination events. Curators of festivals, conferences and curated gatherings sell their tickets through Buenro, and their guests book where to stay in the same flow, from a private villa to any of 3 million hotels worldwide. Ticketing platforms only see the ticket. We see the whole trip, and we share our revenue with the curators who made it happen, giving them an income stream they've never had.
And it doesn't end when the event does. Curators keep benefiting from the community they built: whenever their members travel again and book through Buenro, the curator keeps earning. We match the price of the accommodation that the user can find anywhere else, so booking with us costs a guest nothing extra, yet every stay rewards the community that brought them together. It's an effortless way for people to give back to the experiences that changed their lives.
Where we are today
Proven in the real world. We've successfully launched our product, guests have adopted the full ticket-and-stay experience with no friction, and results keep beating our forecasts. It's proving to be a compelling solution for event curators.
Signed with leading event curators on multi-year exclusive partnerships, with a strong pipeline of festivals, conferences and destination events across music, business and sport.
Well funded and in a strong position, backed by founder-angels who are deeply devoted to our vision. They're here not for a quick return but for what we're building: bringing people together in real life, and the impact that will have.
A fully remote team with leaders from BCG, Uber, Airbnb, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and other exceptional companies.
Our culture is fast-moving, collaborative, and deeply caring about the experiences we create and support - both for our customers and within the team itself.
We're looking for our first Head of Finance: the person who runs Buenro's finances day to day, sits behind every major financial decision, and is as obsessed with the business as we are.
Buenro isn't a simple business to run financially. Ticket sales, accommodation commissions, curator revenue shares and advances all move through one marketplace, across currencies and countries. As our deals grow, getting this right becomes one of the most important things we do.
This is a hands-on role. You'll start by doing the work yourself: set up the systems, run the numbers and keep the books clean. You'll think beyond the task in front of you and spot what the business needs before anyone asks. The scope is broad, so we'll prioritise together: finance operations, the monthly close and the audit come first, and treasury, tax and the fintech side grow with the business. As volume grows, you'll build the team, starting with a finance operations hire.
How decisions work. You own the numbers, the systems and the analysis. Bigger calls, such as financing structures, changes to how money flows through the platform or new entities, start with your proposal. You shape them with the COO, our Growth & Revenue Lead leads financing strategy with your models behind it, and the CEO gives final approval.
Today we're supported by an interim finance partner. You'll take over from them and make finance a core strength of the company.
Finance operations
Run day-to-day finance yourself: payroll, invoicing, billing, payables and multi-currency reconciliation across our payment and banking platforms.
Work with our external accounting office, which handles bookkeeping, so the books are accurate and every transaction is properly documented.
Make sure every curator and accommodation partner is paid correctly and on time.
Curator advances & money flows
Own the tracking, reconciliation and controls for the advances we give curators, turning a manual process into a reliable system.
Be our expert on how money moves through the platform. Research the options, build the models and shape clear proposals with the COO, who brings the final recommendation to the CEO for approval. Then build it with engineering, including our marketplace payments and payout setup.
Accounting, audit & compliance
Get the accounting right: how we recognise revenue, our role as intermediary, and the difference between transaction volume and revenue.
Run the annual audit and the year-end close.
Keep us compliant on VAT, payments regulation and financial data protection in every country we operate in.
Cash, reporting & planning
Own a fast, reliable monthly close.
Track our cash position and burn, and report clearly to leadership and investors.
Maintain the budget and financial model with the COO, and support our growth and revenue lead on revenue forecasting, the fundraising model and future working-capital facilities.
Model the cost of every new hire before it's approved, and keep headcount plans tied to the budget and runway.
Work with the COO and our Head of People & Talent on compensation structure, salary benchmarks and ESOP administration.
Unit economics, margins & cash flow
Build a clear P&L per event and per curator, so we know which partnerships truly create value once fees, cost to serve and advances are included.
Improve our margins: payment processing costs, currency exchange, payment methods and pricing structures.
Optimise the timing of cash in and cash out, manage treasury and currency risk, and make sure client funds are held and handled properly.
Model and propose financing structures, such as working-capital facilities for curator advances, so growth isn't funded by equity alone. Our growth and revenue lead leads financing strategy, and the CEO gives final approval.
Commercial finance
Act as our deal desk: model the economics of every curator partnership before it's signed, working with the COO, growth and sales.
Run a monthly business review on performance against budget, KPIs and cash, and keep our financial model a living tool for decision-making.
Finance systems & fintech product
Redesign our finance stack end to end, and work with product and engineering to replace manual spreadsheets with automated workflows and internal dashboards.
Our product is part fintech: we process a high volume of online transactions. You'll shape the financial side of new product features, such as split payments, payouts and new payment methods, so they're compliant, efficient and scalable.
International structure & tax
Lead the setup and management of new entities as we expand beyond Estonia, starting with Brazil.
Optimise our tax and VAT position across countries, and make sure money flows correctly between entities.
Own financial risk: chargebacks, fraud checks and deposit handling.
Building the function
Use AI and automation to scale yourself, so finance grows without unnecessary headcount.
Hire your first finance operations team member as volume grows, and shape the team from there.
Take over from our interim finance partner with a clean handover.
Map every finance process and money flow, and fix what's fragile or manual.
Deliver a reliable monthly close and a clear monthly reporting pack.
Take ownership of the audit and year-end preparation.
You have 10+ years in finance, including at least 3 years leading finance hands-on at a fast-growing startup, ideally a marketplace, fintech, travel tech or consumer tech business.
You combine both sides of finance: strong finance operations and accounting, and the commercial judgement to model cash flow, advances and working capital.
You understand marketplace payments, multi-currency flows and VAT across borders, and you've worked closely with product and engineering on payment or fintech features.
You've set up or managed entities in multiple countries.
You've run audits, closes and payroll yourself, not just overseen them.
You're comfortable with modern finance tools and AI, and you automate anything repetitive.
You're meticulous, trustworthy and discreet, and you flag problems early.
You're proactive and assertive. You don't wait to be told what to do.
Experience with EU company structures, ideally Estonian.
Experience with Stripe, Xero and Deel.
Experience with revenue-share, ticketing or hospitality businesses.
We operate as a fully remote company, enabling work-from-home for all team members. Everyone who joins gets equity through our option plan, so you share in what we build together. We also take time off seriously: generous time off, plus a week each year when the whole company switches off together.
Ready to Take the Next Step? If you're excited about this role, we'd love to meet you! Apply today with your resume and a brief cover letter telling us why you want to work with Buenro and what excites you about what we're building.
