About Buenro

Our vision: enabling a world of life-changing experiences.

The most important moments in our lives often happen in person. We meet a partner, a co-founder, an investor or a best friend at a gathering we only heard about because we knew the right person.

Our mission: make event curators successful. It drives everything we build. The more curators thrive, the more of these experiences exist, and the closer we get to our vision.

Buenro is a marketplace for destination events. Curators of festivals, conferences and curated gatherings sell their tickets through Buenro, and their guests book where to stay in the same flow, from a private villa to any of 3 million hotels worldwide. Ticketing platforms only see the ticket. We see the whole trip, and we share our revenue with the curators who made it happen, giving them an income stream they've never had.

And it doesn't end when the event does. Curators keep benefiting from the community they built: whenever their members travel again and book through Buenro, the curator keeps earning. We match the price of the accommodation that the user can find anywhere else, so booking with us costs a guest nothing extra, yet every stay rewards the community that brought them together. It's an effortless way for people to give back to the experiences that changed their lives.

Where we are today

  • Proven in the real world. We've successfully launched our product, guests have adopted the full ticket-and-stay experience with no friction, and results keep beating our forecasts. It's proving to be a compelling solution for event curators.

  • Signed with leading event curators on multi-year exclusive partnerships, with a strong pipeline of festivals, conferences and destination events across music, business and sport.

  • Well funded and in a strong position, backed by founder-angels who are deeply devoted to our vision. They're here not for a quick return but for what we're building: bringing people together in real life, and the impact that will have.

  • A fully remote team with leaders from BCG, Uber, Airbnb, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and other exceptional companies.

Our culture is fast-moving, collaborative, and deeply caring about the experiences we create and support - both for our customers and within the team itself.

About the Role

Right now our CEO is doing two jobs. One is building Buenro's vision, partnerships and opportunities. The other is running the business day to day: finance, legal, audits, contracts, payroll and every problem in between. The second is taking all her time, and opportunities are being left on the table because of it.

We're splitting that role in two. You'll take over the running of the business so the CEO can focus on strategy, vision and growth.

This is a role for an experienced operator who takes full ownership. Someone who has seen what good looks like at a company further down the road, and wants to join early enough to build it. You'll pick up whatever needs fixing, solve it properly, build the function around it, hand it to the right person, and move on to the next problem.

You'll start as Head of Operations and become COO as trust is built and results are proven.

Where This Role Sits

You'll report to the CEO and own finance, legal, people and operations end to end. Until our growth and revenue leader joins next year, you'll also oversee growth and sales, including our Head of Sales & Partnerships. When they join, they'll lead revenue, sales, commercial and fundraising strategy as your peer, and you'll hand over that part of the remit.

We're already hiring a Head of Finance, who will report to you, and a Head of Sales & Partnerships, who will report to you until our growth and revenue leader joins.

We hire from the top down. Every new leader starts hands-on and does the work themselves. When the work outgrows them, they hire the next person under them.

Your First 90 Days

  • Get under the hood. Review everything: finance, legal, contracts, payroll, compliance and how decisions get made. Understand what works, what's missing and where the risks are.

  • Design the operations side of the business. Come back with a clear plan for the operations, finance, legal and people functions: what to build, who to hire and in what order.

  • Fix as you go. Take over the work the CEO does today and start making it simpler, faster and more repeatable, so things like the annual audit, curator contracts and fundraising paperwork stop being rebuilt from scratch.

What You'll Own

Finance & money flows

  • Own Buenro's finances end to end: budget, cash, forecasting, reporting and the financial model.

  • Lead our Head of Finance, who will in time build their own team. You need the finance expertise to direct them and hold them to a high standard.

  • Shape how money moves through the platform. Ticket sales, accommodation commissions and curator payouts make up a complex marketplace flow, and we treat it as a financial product. Our Head of Finance researches the options and proposes the models; you challenge them, bring your final recommendation to the CEO for approval, and make sure the systems behind it (payments, payouts, reconciliation and tax across every country we operate in) keep improving.

Revenue & growth (until our growth and revenue leader joins)

  • Set revenue and growth targets together with the CEO, then make sure the business delivers them.

  • Lead our Head of Sales & Partnerships, who owns the curator pipeline and curator success day to day.

Legal & contracts

  • Own the contract process for curator and supply partnerships, from template to signature.

  • Manage our external law firms and legal spend, so lawyers are used where they add value, not on every deal.

  • Keep the company compliant across jurisdictions: entities, data protection and payments regulation.

Fundraising operations

  • Run the mechanics of our rounds: investment documents, shareholder resolutions, the cap table and equity administration.

  • Own financial and investor reporting, and keep us ready for due diligence at all times.

People operations

  • Own payroll, contractor management, compensation and equity administration for a fully remote, international team, working with our Head of People.

Turning vision into execution

  • Capture the CEO's vision and priorities and turn them into clear goals and plans across the company. She sets the direction; you make sure it happens.

  • Track progress, keep teams accountable, and raise the flag early when something is off track.

  • Act on the CEO's behalf when she's travelling or unavailable.

What This Role Is Not

We don't do bureaucracy. No process for its own sake, no planning theatre, no decks that slow things down. Every system you build should make the team faster, not give it more forms to fill in. We need someone who rolls up their sleeves and gets to work on day one.

Who You Are

  • You've been a COO, Head of Operations, Chief of Staff, finance leader or founder at a fast-growing tech startup in consumer tech, travel tech or fintech, ideally a marketplace, and you've seen the journey through Series A and beyond.

  • You have deep hands-on finance experience and understand how payments and money flows work in a marketplace.

  • You're comfortable with legal and corporate work: contracts, fundraising documents and multi-country compliance.

  • You can lead senior people across finance, legal and operations without needing to be the expert in everything.

  • You're assertive, direct and allergic to unnecessary complexity. You fix problems instead of writing about them.

  • You can be trusted completely: discreet, honest and quick to share bad news.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with EU company structures, ideally Estonian.

  • Experience with marketplace payments or event ticketing.

  • A background in investment banking, consulting or audit.

Why Join Buenro?
